A well-functioning internal market is key to scaling Europe’s circular industry

The European Commission has presented the Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA), a framework aimed at strengthening Europe’s industrial capacity and accelerating decarbonisation in strategic sectors.

The proposal introduces targeted “Made in EU” and low-carbon requirements in public procurement and support schemes across sectors such as steel, aluminium, cement, automotive and net-zero technologies, with the aim of creating predictable lead markets. It also proposes a single digital permitting process to simplify and speed up industrial project approvals and aims to increase manufacturing’s share of EU GDP from 14.3% in 2024 to 20% by 2035.

NG Nordic welcomes the EU’s ambition to strengthen Europe’s industrial competitiveness while accelerating the green and circular transition. Predictable and harmonised frameworks that reward circularity and support a strong recycling industry will be essential. A well-functioning internal market for secondary raw materials will help increase recycling rates, improve resource efficiency, and build a competitive circular economy in Europe.

NG Nordic is at the forefront of the transition to a circular economy, providing the industrial scale and technological innovation needed to turn complex waste streams into high-quality secondary raw materials while removing hazardous substances. This strengthens Europe’s internal supply chains and supports a more resilient and circular European industry. We therefore support policy frameworks that help build and scale this transition.
