Mana Take Steps Towards Turning Waste into a Resource without CO₂ Emissions
NG Nordic-owned Mana and Equinor are entering an early-stage strategic partnership to explore the potential to develop the Nordics' first large-scale Waste-to-Methanol project at Mongstad. The ambition is to create a solution where non-circular waste is converted into green fuel while capturing and storing carbon.
The plan is to convert around 550,000 tons of residual waste annually into 270,000 tons of methanol, and to capture and permanently store 400,000 tons of CO₂. The project combines waste reduction, production of green fuels, and carbon capture into one integrated solution – an important step towards a zero-emission society.
– " To succeed with innovation and green transition, we must build strong alliances. The partnership with Equinor is a milestone for Mana. Together, we are taking a new step to support the development of a circular economy and industrial decarbonization in Norway," says Jon Bergan, CEO of Mana.
The project is in an early development phase, aiming at concluding a feasibility study during the spring of 2026.
About Mana: Mana was established by NG Nordic in 2023 and is developing a portfolio of Waste-to-Methanol projects in the Nordics. The company combines technology, industrial expertise, and strategic partnerships to accelerate the transition to a lowemission economy.
